Finally, Step two!

Clearing the land, truck is coming soon.
Heavy heavy heavy heavy

Not sure what i'm looking at...

And here it comes!

*really annoying beeping noises*

*still beeping*

Can you see what I see?

Final Product, well, as final as a dumpload comes.
This is what came of my neat lil' pile.

Step 1 5/8

Thursday, July 16, 2009. It is over 90* out, no shade, no breeze.

This is the mountain of concrete I have to work with.
Most chunks are 4-8 feet long and wide. So, I just started by stacking the pieces that were small enough for me to move.

Did I mention it is hot?
Very Hot!

With no breeze.
With no shade.

But I keep on working!

Doesn't look like much but it was hard work!

Saturday, July 18, 2009.
Over 90* again.
No breeze.
No shade.
This time I have a sledgehammer!

Which actually makes life easier because now I can make the chunks the right size.

And it is kind of fun too!

GRR!

Did I mention it is over 90* today?
With no breeze?
With no shade?

Who do you think I am imagining is in front of the sledgehammer?

About 2 1/2 hours in.

The shirt went back on because chunks of concrete kept hitting my chest.

Sledgehammer!

YES!

End of day two. Mr. Mike said I have broken and stacked over a ton of concrete by myself in two afternoons.

Enough! For today anyways. Now Mr. Mike is going to use the loader and put it in the dump truck when he has a free afternoon.
Next step, My yard!

Step1 3/4

We have been on craigslist and calling everyone we know, but no rocks. Mom said if we have to buy them it will take us way out of budget (NONE) so, now what to do? The last time through craigslist, we saw an add for concrete chunks. Now that would work too. Mom remembered when we were at Miss Jodys' house there were giant slabs of concrete in the field. One call later, we were headed out to Miss Jody's place. Her husband told us he is doing a construction job where he can get us dump truck loads of concrete. Since he is in construction, he took a look at our plans and said that the concrete would work perfectly. Then he said that he could also bring us fill dirt to level the area that I am building the fire pit on. FREE!!! So, now we have the fill dirt and the Concrete coming this week and it is all FREE! That makes life easy.
